Loved Mercanoid, and this is an improvement in many ways. Swapping to a variety of boss encounters fought with two characters feels more fun and modern than the old constant RPG random monster fight barrage, and it means that battles take more planning and careful reading to beat rather than just spamming attack and glow/flow moves. Great variety of scenes, cleverly written, and the new visual update is very impressive. Very worth your time and $.
