god this fucks. this fucks SO HARD.

the use of established game mechanics/world mechanics is insane. the pink text bits acting initially as quick and cute 'references' to lore from the GIRLS franchise, then transforming seamlessly into the way the world itself talks about ROYAL ('ROYAL loves cravats!' he visibly does not / 'ugly muscle guy and also ROYAL's good friend!' uh huh okay sure babe / 'because he's a beloved villain and can never leave!' I'm going to throw up) i love i love i love. the explicit queer censorship and ROYAL's resigned dismissal of the patching. the way his curses are only uncensored at the very end when he's breaking out of the code (and his escape sequence not being counted as game actions / clicks!). I only got like 15 minutes worth of reading this guy but he might be one of my favorite video game characters ever. he's so auuuuughhhhh. the way he talks and looks when he's terrified and miserable is so good
