FreefDev rated a Fan game 250 days ago
A browser Fan game made in HTML5.

Hey there, great game! It's really enjoyable, and it managed to catch the tone of YTTD quite well while at the same time also having many original elements to it, no easy feat.

I've seen that the project is still being actively worked on, so I thought I should for once finally write a proper review and give some feedback, even if this version is already 2 years old, and even if I am  lacking at giving due praise.

First, the bugs I encountered.

1. After exiting the console, the mouse-click click effect would stay until a scene change, where it would become that magic YTTD effect again.

2. After the console minigame and having policewoman be my wingman, I went to the red room and talked a bit with the 2 fellas there. After which, I think I exited to the darts room and tried heading towards the main hall. This crashed my game.

3. During the doll fight, the "vote Mei" option from the previous voting was still clickable around the monster's eye, which would then initiate the post-vote event chain. If I do not engage it and win the fight normally, my screen turns red and stays red. The victory scene after is not played, rather the boss fight repeats (or continues?) with that red screen in front of everything.

Granted, I was using Magpie to upscale the game, but I doubt that caused the issues, it's probably trouble with scripting edge cases.

Second, there were some small things regarding the story that were odd. Sometimes, I felt like the characters moved on a bit too quickly from what was happening, like the death of the first contestant. I figured they might be a bit more traumatized seeing someone die literally in front of them, most of them seeing real death for the first time, even with blood splattering onto them, before quickly returning to more or less  normal / rational state    when Midori arrives. I get that they’re a bit crazy, and I find their tics really funny, but a little more dialogue wouldn’t hurt. Another example is pinkie giving Ranmaru the map at the start of the exploration. She, the psycho-girl, just hands it over like no problem? Isn't that the only map she found, or did I read that wrong in my current tipsy state?    Regardless, I think there also should've been at least a little more dialogue.

These were the things that caught me a bit off guard. Other than that, as already mentioned, I enjoyed this game very much, it's something I would've recommended to my old friend group. If you need a helping hand, like proof reading the script or upgrading some of your JavaScript code, let me know! I know a thing or two (see my profile), and    I kinda feel like helping some fan game again like I have years ago. So yeah, keep up the great work, I’m really looking forward Patch 2.0 :D!!!
