Liphisbus rated Mother's Eye DEMO

A downloadable game for Windows.

This actually gave me goosebumps the first time I played, but... It's decent, and it's far from being good.

You did great on the jumpscares. You tried to create some tension instead of trying to scare us with loud sounds all the time, but there's quite a lot of things I didn't like, and I think you could have done them differently, which is why I'm only giving you 3 stars. Here's a few of them:

First is a lot of missed opportunities that you could have used to scare us. First one was when we are coming back to our room from the basement. You could have put that same png(?) of the mom looking at us that you used when we entered the basement.

Same in some parts with light in the basement. Not actual jumpscares, just her being there and disappearing would have creeped me out, even more if she was peeking behind the walls or something like that.

I noticed there was already a lot of 'ambiance' in the basement, but you could have stopped it after we checked her diary. This way you could create a false safe feeling for the players, which you could use later. You could add some sounds like mother laughing at our ear or distant screams or something like that.

The mother model is... Bad. I lost interested on this fast after seeing her goofy low-poly face lol. You should have showed us her face for only 2 seconds or so, just as a way to scare us and show that mother knows that we are doing.

Since this was made in Unreal, I'm sure you will need to properly optimize the game. Unreal is know for how badly optimized the engine itself is. Something about the internal shaders and lumens being terrible or something. The game at full graphics was lagging a lot, but setting the shadows to low gave me 80 FPS in one go.

Some floor objects should not have collision, I got a little stuck in one of them when I was trying to fix the modem, nothing serious, but it was definitely annoying.

Pressing tab to show the object would be great instead of it being on the screen all the time. Subtitles should be more bigger, just 25% more would work for me. Pressing esc to return doesn't work when you're on the configuration, and I think it should...

I can see this game being REALLY good if you know how to do things properly, so I wish you good luck on it.
