A downloadable game.

Review

The game definitely does a great job at gripping you in from the start. I enjoyed the fact that the characters’ paths eventually lead them speaking to the priest, and how Lauriett’s trial was a little different from the others.

It’s nice that there’s a few quality of life features too, such as a achievement menu and a quest log that the developer put the effort to put in. What’s most surprising, is that there’s no such thing as levels! I’m kinda glad, and I’m grateful for the focus on the stats of equipment and weapons.

The main quality that this game has got going for it: is the different paths and choices you can make. It does set it apart. I also enjoyed having to use certain objects in the field to get by. Smart design choices there.

As for the mapping, it isn’t that bad – quite well executed. One thing I do like about the maps is their design of “seamless” transition. It makes you feel like a part of a huge continent, instead of parts of something.

Overall, this game is good - but suffers from it's lack of proofreading. The grammatical and spelling errors sometimes take away from the immersion, but the developer did well with the tools he/she had.  The game is also... kinda unplayable because of how unbalanced it is. Really.

I also left some bugs I found below, so hopefully you'll fix these in the next patch or something.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bugs/Mistakes found:

At intro: Speaking with middle sprite = “Will you exlore the darkness?” Should be: “Will you explore* the darkness?”

At menu: On achievements menu: The cancel button on the controller doesn’t work on this. It won’t return to the menu, so I must manually use ESC.

On game over: The game fails to load the Game Over image.

Other Mistakes: The “Saphire” item is misspelled, it should be “Sapphire”.

Recommended Changes:

I think some of the enemies at the start of Karena’s path (the skeletons and zombies) are a little too hard-hitting, especially their magic, so you could do with tweaking their attacking attributes down a notch. Posion takes away way too much of your health, and you aren’t given much choice on how to deal with it at the start. I was literally dying in a few steps. However, the pain was eased when I discovered equipment and gold is carried over.
