Wolf of White Waters walks the line between poetry and short story with an elegance. It offers beautiful presentation that complements themes and the plot well while sticking to a simplicity that allows it to be very palatable.

I did find some issues with the use of what I'm calling "poetic clichés" (structures like 'Word a. Word b' e.g. 'Sniffling. Snuffling.'), a small number of which warranted an eyeroll from me. At the same time, I also feel some of the use of "prose storytelling" (as in, telling things happening with some detail rather than with metaphors and imagery) took some of the magic away.

That said, these a small enough part of an excellent work. Scoped perfectly, has gorgeous presentation and written in a clear and readable format. Pretty close to the ideal of pleasant concision.
