I will miss this project dearly. Very sad the developer decided to drop it. I just finished playing through everything in the final update, and it's still so, so good. I hope the developer knows they are extremely talented, and I hope they are in a better place than they were during the last update. If you're reading this, I hope that one day you'll pick the project back up, and finish it. No updating everyone, no promises to anyone, just finish it and publish it on your own time. Then leave it. It breaks my heart to think you would abandon a passion project over anything anyone would say to you online. Your talent is bigger than them.
