Fantastic Ao Oni remake! The original Ao Oni was a classic, but relied on surprise for most of the scares and horror atmosphere (which does not hit the second time playing since the surprises are scripted events the same each run). This remake fuels the atmosphere with horror through art and gameplay so that each run stays terror-inducing. This is also important because the game adds a New Game+, multiple endings (so choices matter!), and secrets you may miss first time around. Other amazing additions include fantastic art, fleshed out characters new and old, and a retelling that has original Ao Oni players surprised and on edge.
 
Edit a year later: dude I still play this game. I've beaten it multiple times I have the route to the best ending memorized. I could speedrun this if I really wanted to (I don't, but I could lmao). This game has me in a choke hold. Seriously love this game. I wanna give more stars 5 isn't enough.

Edit for 2025: I'm still infatuated with this game. One  of my favorite RPG Horror Games of all time. Makes Ao Oni an actual competitor for the title of the best RPG horror.
