When I first played this game I thought I would be able to end up with the yandere. In the end that didn't happen. Hydrangea isn't a game about romancing the yandere or indulging in yandere romance. It's a realistic take on what it means to be in an abusive relationship. The cycle of abuse and how it affects not only the victim but those close to them as well. As a Yandere lover I came with the expectation that I would end up with a happy ending with my yandere despite not fulfilling that expectation I enjoyed the game.
The true ending was worth the fact that I could not return to a relationship with my yandere lol. The writing was perfect, the characters and choices reflected how a human, a teen, would react in the situation. In the end the message the game left was nice.
Not all relationships can be salvaged by being together. Sometimes you have to let go.
In the end while I did enjoy the game I wouldn't recommend this for the ones who want to romance the yandere lol but if you're into playing a game to heal yourself or want to feel human then play this game until you reach the true end.
