OttifantSir rated How to Fix the Future | Chapter 2, Part Three

OttifantSir rated a game 1 year ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

I really like the overall story in this game, and am actually contemplating buying the next installment to see where it goes, but during the demo (Chapter 1), I didn't watch a single sex scene, because they were all during situations that just felt wrong.

Octavia is unlikable because she comes off not just as a dominating sadist, beleaguered by problems, but also as a psycho-/sociopathic narcissist, evoking a psychological instinct in humans to distance themselves from psycho-/sociopaths. I enjoy sadistic dominatrixes in my VNs, but I don't enjoy narcissists and/or psycho-/sociopaths.

Due to this, her treatment of Liu feels more like slavery as practiced in Egypt and Rome; slaves are property not humans, rather than a consensual Dom/Sub relationship fulfilling both their differing needs. This in turn makes Liu's desperate attempt to get in MC's pants during their 'first date' feel like the anguished cry for help to escape her slavery, rather than a genuine interest for a connection and shared pleasure. And choosing to have sex with her feels like deciding to rape someone who has been drugged asleep.

Riley is interesting in the beginning, but the moment she takes hostage and tries raping MC in the broom closet so she doesn't have to answer his VERY valid questions, while making him an unwilling accomplice to her crime, she became as interesting as watching paint dry. It was truly disappointing to not get the choice to rat her out to the guards, Olga, Cathy or Octavia. MC has absolutely no reason to aid her in covering up her crime.

MC's talk to Olga during the first training feels wrong, no matter which choice you make. If you choose the 'right' answer, MC simply dismisses at least half of what we have experienced with her so far. The 'right' answer should have been Strict, because she IS strict, as is required of the head agent of a large organisation, but she's not a bitchy cunt escalating every minor mistake or deviation to a drumhead trial either. She and Chloe are so far the two characters that have actually managed to be likable enough to make me want to find out what happens to them next.

Cathy is a character that feels like she's the friendly girl next door, but she isn't anything that truly sticks with you once you're done with her interactions either.

Chloe is the best character so far, despite the clichè of the 'broken-home-alternative-looks-girl-boss-super-hacker' she is portrayed as. She still feels like a better friend than anyone else, and it also feels like she is genuinely interested in the MC, whereas the others only feel interested in WHAT the MC supposedly is.

The doctor is a genuinely awesome character, feeling like a longtime friend and a gentleman.

The school principal feels like Octavia in a male body.

Jacob is the clichèed 'stupid-naive-carefree sidekick-with-a-singular-obsession'

BJ is just forgettable. If he had been removed, the story wouldn't even be impacted, because the only slight impact he has, is that he shares his weed with Chloe. And, as we have seen, Chloe has drugs of her own and could have achieved the same level of impairment without inserting a useless character into the story.

Why is Ellie even a part of the characters you can get more info on? She and MC has not been in a relationship, or even in contact with eachother, for years.
