Grizzlebubs rated Ripples

Grizzlebubs rated a game 1 year ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

With clever dialog that leaves you chuckling and an intriguing story, Ripples is a top tier AVN. The characters models are well done, and the animations and music are top notch.

As mentioned above, my favorite thing regarding Ripples is the dialog and character's personalities. It is clear a lot of attention was placed on developing well rounded characters with humorous dialog. The chemistry between the MC and the females is wonderful and I enjoy watching as the story develops.

Though this largely depends on how the Ripple Universe deals with Time Travel and how decisions in the past effect the future, my only real criticism would be with how surprisingly little the decisions the MC makes in the past affect the future. I understand from a development perspective this can be extremely difficult. Especially considering any decisions that are contained within all the new episode that takes place in the past technically have already occurred in every single episode that contains content within the present time. Depending on how drastic the 'past' choices are, this could result in some difficulties within the development.

For example, if the MC chooses to return the Crystal to Scarlett rather than leave it with Khloe, I thought it was interesting how in the future Krystal's name was changed. To be honest, the repercussions were intriguing, I felt a little disappointed when it was revealed to be merely Darci teasing Krystal. This could have (potentially) been a good opportunity to safely describe how choices in the past could potentially change the future.

I wouldn't call this a criticism, per se, but when dealing with release cycle, I understand there are various trains of thoughts. Many developers have release cycles of 3 months with less content per release versus 6 months with more content per release. I (personally) would rather have quicker (3 month) releases with less content waiting half a year for a larger release. Though this is personal preference (and didn't affect my rating).

Sometimes I wonder if having much smaller releases every 3 to 4 months would be better. Often times I end up having to replay the story before every release to re-familiarize myself with the plot. Again, not really a complaint, more than likely just an observation that stems from my impatience for such a wonderful visual novel.
