VeryEasilyConfounded rated ATLYSS

A downloadable game for Windows.

My old review was for the game's alpha. Mainly just bitching about how the game was too easy if you dumped everything in strength and ran straight at your problems.

The game ain't easy anymore. One might even say it's a bit too difficult at times. The tier 3 catacombs fight definitely feels kind of unfair at times. But the game is definitely fun. Overall: good shit, and it's still technically only in beta.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: I got gud. The game is plenty fair, and as long as you aren't being a moron, any situation is winnable. I will admit, your stat distribution ends up basically being a built-in difficulty slider, where the more points you put in vitality the easier the game becomes (seriously, I made a joke character where I put every single stat point into vitality and became a mystic with basically nothing but healing abilities and found out that a build like that is borderline unkillable, so do what you will with that knowledge), but regardless of how easy or difficult you make things for yourself, you won't ever be in over your head unless you make the conscious decision to throw yourself in the deep end. Currently, the only major gripe I have is with the dungeons, where you can be given the quest to get in the door the second you hit the dungeon's level floor (i.e. if it's 12-18, you can go in at 12, or if it's 15-20, you can show up at level 15) even though the bossfights are exceedingly, needlessly difficult if you're any more than 3 levels below the dungeon's level ceiling due to how parrying was implemented. TLDR if your level isn't within 3 levels of the high end of the dungeon's level range, the boss is a straight-up no go and it feels a lil bad to put a lot of effort into "beating" a difficult dungeon only to end up having to walk out on the boss.
