Marvellyous rated Quiet as a Stone

Marvellyous rated a game 1 year ago
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS.

Enjoyable, chill, good vibes and the ability to make some really nice pictures. Sometimes a little janky, like an awkward log system that is a mix of instructions and seemingly random flavour text that would jump ahead to the latest log if any new flavour text or instructions appeared, which could be annoying as you had to scroll through the pages one by one. There are other little things, like breaking pots being fiddly at times and floating grass being immovable unless you enlarge an object under it to touch the base of the grass, after which you can cut it down. Another minor annoyance is that it's quite easy to accidentally move an object, so I would also have appreciated an undo function.

However, once I got used to the way that the game worked I really enjoyed the process of clearing things and placing/enlarging objects to interesting landscapes, just letting them emerge from whatever haphazard way I'd placed them while clearing areas.

The clearing of the grass and breaking of the pots and shards can be quite fun and therapeutic. I would probably enjoy it if there were more ways in which different objects could interact, but I also recognise it's not the focus of the game, and could easily detract from what the game does best, which is looking pretty
