This game is SO charming, and seems to perfectly execute everything it sets out to do. I first heard about it through the Big Game Hunger podcast, and loved the idea, so I was super excited to try it when the servers opened up.
I adore how perfectly this game captures the kind of cheesy but sincere harvest festival aesthetic - with the ability to switch between night / day time, perfectly recreating the vibe of taking a "Haunted Hayride" trip in broad daylight, completely breaking any semblance of immersion in regards to the scares.
This attention to detail, that the player can "ruin" almost any scary moment in the game (for example, by turning off the speaker producing the ominous heart-beat sound) plays with the player's suspension of disbelief in a way that is so uncommon in the games medium. It almost feels like a Muppet movie, which is high praise in my opinion.
Not to mention the nice list of accessibility features - especially those which are designed to let younger children experience the game without the risk of genuine scares - which is really cool to see.
The community aspect is amazing as well, but this review is already long and rambling enough :)
Thanks for the great game, and Happy Halloween!
