I really, REALLY wanted to love this one, because I love the other works in this series, and i'm very fond of diner dash-esque restaurant sims. unfortunately i can't get past the clunky controls. I think it's a consequence of using the rpgmaker engine for a type of game it isn't built for. To take someone's order, for example, you need to be standing right next to them- you can't be standing in front of their table, like a real waiter might- and you have to press the arrow key in the customer's direction to hit the "wall" of them before you press z, or the talk won't register. This is fine in a game like Marriage in Red, which allows for slow and thorough examination of the environment, but for this kind of game, which has a strict time constraint and consequences for not acting efficiently, it's just frustrating.
That said, what it lacks in precise controls it mostly makes up for in style and story. I love a fucked up work environment. I love dubious meats. I love cannibalism as an allegory for love or sex. I just wish it wasn't so difficult to get to all that because I'm replaying levels over and over because I keep forgetting to clean up tables from the exact right square.
EDIT: Having successfully finished the game (that cologne is a life saver) I bumped up my rating to 4 stars, because i do think the plot is excellent, and clearly finishing is possible even if it is frustrating. I do still think the controls could be improved.
