SkilZ rated From the Sin

SkilZ rated a game 1 year ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

Though I can't recall how I discovered this game, I'm glad I did. Even with just two updates, it's already made my 'High Recommend' list.

First impressions were great as I was greeted with an amazing render as well as a song I haven't heard of. Which led me to believe it was an original composition. I gave the credit list a look, and it showed me that might not be the case. Nonetheless, the VN already made a strong start and showed I was in for a treat.

My assumption was correct as I kept playing. The renders looked amazing and desktop wallpaper worthy even. The entire scene with the title reveal is just *chef kiss*. I'm not sure if I should chalk this up to my library being smaller than I thought, or you made an effort with the game's soundtrack selection, as I can't recognize most of the songs that played during my playthrough, which made me immerse myself more in the game. Kinda gets hard after a while once you've heard the same songs playing in other games.

As for the writing, I really liked Zell's rational decision to keep what he knows a secret and then rightfully get chastised for it once everything was said and done. Kinda makes the entire thing feel more grounded ya know. Also, I liked how I managed to piece together why Silika was in front of Zell's door as soon as I read that she can detect lies or the fact that Zell got scolded for leaving behind the device Ada was using when I noticed he didn't grab it. It makes me feel rewarded for paying attention.

Unrelated, but I liked seeing Substar there instead of patreon. I might be biased, but it just tells me you can pretty much write whatever, meaning I won't get a mangled game. Call me biased because I definitely am.

Overall, despite only being with it for a short time, I really liked playing the VN. I got bamboozled, thinking I had 3 chapters of fun in store for me, despite the fact I saw the game came out February this year. So early in its lifespan, yet I'm hooked already. I wonder where we will be a year or so from now.

I hope you have a great day, Vorpal. I'll be watching this project closely.
