Pretty neat take on the Vampire Survivors genre.
The movement is pretty clunky and takes some time getting used to with the positive and negative modifiers on top of having to think about the bounce and speed. This could be a point of contention in player retention.
The different builds you can get are interesting but are very weighted at the moment to be either melee or mass (leaning more to the mass side). The idea of taking weapons and eating them is a very cool and interesting idea but it will most likely lean people towards a tank on contact build for consistent damage (and that build kind of gets destroyed on the 9th wave due to spawn rate). I think this only due to having got rather terrible rolls my first run and most of my weapons when from purple to white and due to this I died.
The art style is alright, not in a good or bad way... more so I tend to play games on a darker setting due to my eyes (so this is more a player by player thing). Also if you turn off vsync, the yarn background speeds up a lot and can get very nauseating.
I was a bit sad to see we don't have a boss battle at the end. after the difficulty spike in the 9th wave I was expecting a boss on 10 and instead it was just a weaker wave 9 and then on the 11th (or 12th?) wave it was a new mob type that seemed to just instant die so I couldn't see what it was.
Overall it needs some polish and tuning at it's current first iteration. it isn't bad, but it isn't good. To express this in a different way, when I got the game victory screen I didn't feel the drive to unlock the other characters since I already knew I had all the items and it would more or less be the exact same run, and there is no increase in difficulty or leaderboard for me to climb. This was something I felt a little similar to Cemetery of Bob, but there the paths, units, items, and humans, were all random. This made it so runs weren't stale and you could win or lose feeling like the next run could be better.
Thanks for taking the time to read and hope you have an amazing day/night.
