Dropouts snagged me from the beginning
Writing a story well is hard, having a coherent aesthetic for a VN (music, art, story, etc.) is even harder to pull of. The nature of the medium kinda defaults towards a patchwork approach, a place where custom assets and free/creative commons assets are combined to tell a story that is meaningful. It's really special when you do have someone who can do it all.
The art style is really charming and indie, the custom tracks complement it, and it has a very nice interchange between sprites and backgrounds that have shifting elements to them.
The story is very "real" feeling, the kind that once instinctually knows that it pulls from direct life experience. The mental health writing in this VN is spot-on, such that I would recommend you being careful playing it if depression and derealization hits a little too close to home. It doesn't overstay its welcome, but definitely could go further should the author wish to do more in the future.
All in all, this VN had vibes and hits all the things I want to see in a VN.
