A delightfully elegant plate-spinning simulator placing itself within a fictional yet familiar setting, itself brought to life by the artwork and music. A sense of tension pervades the game as you navigate your values and allegiances, even if you choose to play as totally devoted towards or against the Party: your marriage and fatherhood depend on striking the balance. With simple yes-or-no choices that range from the silly to the clear-cut to the brutally difficult, Dear Edmund asks so little and yet so much of you. The game does feel a little incomplete towards the final days, just when it needs to be at its best to tie the experience up, but is nonetheless entirely worth a playthrough or two or three.
