As far as Quake TCs go, this is super impressive from an art perspective. Love the filthy cyberpunk fantasy world and creature designs.
Map flow is a different story. Maps are very open and as you progress more and more of them put you in situations where you're constantly being ambushed from all directions at the same time. It starts to feel unfocused and difficult to manage. You're dealing with swarms of enemies with different ranges of attack and amounts of health, spread far enough out that it's hard to deal with for what I think feels like the wrong reasons.
It's not super long, though, and it's free, so I'm not going to complain too loudly. Though I did almost give up on what turned out to be the mod's final level, because it's an extremely confusing, frustrating maze. But, given that was apparently the crescendo... sure, fine, whatever, I guess. I can at least sympathize, given I've made games that overextend like that in the end.
I will definitely remember the vibes more than the frustration. And the vibes are pretty good.
