Touch Grass by P. R. Saseta is a niche but groundbreaking game like no other. Touch Grass defies the bounds of normal genre, and instead takes on an experimental style of gameplay, where the player touches "Grass" - a peculiar otherworldly substance created by the mythical Brady Bellini.
Though inconspicuous at first, the gameplay of Touch Grass is deep and greatly rewarding, with niche yet refreshing elements unseen in the industry. At risk of spoiling the experience for my readers, I must withhold the true depth of the emergent gameplay that I experienced when I decided to play this masterpiece, however I will say that I was not only impressed, but I was transformed. Touch Grass has a mechanic that I have not seen in any other game. It is rather difficult to explain, but I would describe it as "next level emergent gameplay". After I "touched grass", I discovered many other things that were previously unknown to me, like "women" and "personal hygiene". This may be a lot to take in, but I assure you that you will understand after playing this game.
Beyond the technical aspects of the gameplay, the story was riveting. Touch Grass takes a risky, but perfectly executed approach to its story. There is little in terms of written lore or dialogue, but daringly the story is told solely through visual storytelling. Shamefully, I must admit that lead artist Brady Bellini was unknown to me before I picked up this game, but boy am I glad I did. His style both perplexes and transforms those who witness it, with the deep narrative being woven through every single pixel. Though I may never be able to fathom his whole message, I have been transformed by the few inferences my inferior mind was able to assemble.
Though brief, I hope my review has inspired you to try P. R. Saseta's Touch Grass, as it has been a life-changing experience for me, and would not want anyone to miss out on this legendary work of art.
