Fun for lovers of regency fiction (which is why I picked it up), but the writing is dull and predictable. While the characters are rather nicely imagined, their arcs are basically non-existent. The emotions of the MC and love interests are frustrating, in many scenes they are surprised to understand the other is interested in them, when the feelings of the other couldn't have been more obvious in the last three scenes. While I understand the creator wanted to be relaxed with historical accuracy for the sake of fun, perhaps there would have been more narrative continuity and structure to the story that would have made it more satisfying if a little more attention were paid to historical accuracy. Story and context are like games with rules--the structure is what allows each to be fun and meaningful--take the structure and it's just a series of events devoid of meaning. This game oscillated between committing to modern sensibilities and rules with a regency aesthetic or to "regency" ones (that are not historically accurate). There are ways to blend them arguably successfully and enjoyably--Bridgerton is an example--but this game did not accomplish that. It was mostly just frustrating.
Also, very few of the choices given to the reader mattered at all, besides one very obvious "no I reject the love interest and will not go to their proposed lovers meeting" leading to an ending where you don't end up with them. Which, well, duh. Some people may enjoy railroading in their otome novels and this may not bother them as much as it did me, but I enjoy the genre partially because it allows me to see the same story from different angles. And it's fun to discover which choices bring out changes in characters, including the MC. A little chance to explore the multiverse. That's what separates visual novels and choose your own adventure from reading a book.
