Gretgor rated Tallowmere

Gretgor rated a game 2 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

Pretty decent game for what it is. I didn't expect it, but I got hooked on it. There are some situations that are simply frustrating and get on my nerves, but it's overall quite fun.

This is a simple action-platforming roguelite, with graphics that look like "baby's first game", but in a good way. The simplicity of the graphics adds some nice charm to the game.

The combat mechanics revolve around shielding and attacking. Attacking has no cooldown, so you can just mash away at most enemies, but don't expect to be able to beat everything like that, since some enemies don't stun, and some can throw projectiles.

The few situations that really got on my nerves were the times the random level generator would straight up give me an unwinnable situation. Not as common as I'd feared, but definitely common enough to make me a bit angry.

I was actually downloading a more popular and polished game, and started playing Tallowmere just to wait for it. I ended up getting so hooked I kept playing for an hour after the download finished.
