This is a parody of/love letter to RPG games. However, it is such a parody that it basically has no actual RPG elements. The fighting system is rudimentary, which in and of itself is not a problem.

The problem is the fight system is so rudimentary that the outcome is predetermined. You have already won or lost. You just hit the button until the fight's over.

This game is very 4th wall breaky. It reminds me of the trend in the 90's and 2000's of movies breaking the 4th wall (like  Hot Shots and Scary Movie)

The ending is, well unexpected. Did not see that coming. Very early 2000's parody style ending.

Overall, I would say this game is worth one play through. It's no Undertale or Earthbound, but it's worth about an hour of your time.
