darkizzle rated Trouble Comes Twice

A downloadable game for Windows and macOS.

I was only really interested in the M/M routes, which are both very cute, very funny, and very charming. These are fun and appealing characters and I wish I could spend more time with them. It's for that reason that I'm docking 2 stars. The game is ridiculously short, ending abruptly just when it feels like its getting going. I'm also not convinced the game remembered to pose a conflict. Or maybe it did, but it was actually just some mild misunderstandings?  Whatever you choose to call it, it didn't really grip me, and once I started thinking some stakes would finally arise, the game ends, and everyone lives happily ever after I guess. As I said, the writing is very cute and funny, but also inconsequential. All the dialogue just feels like random small talk, which are normally welcome when they serve as little slices to break up tension, but when the story is ENTIRELY just small talk, it feels very thin and flaccid by the end. Overall, I like this game. I like the characters. But this isn't an experience that will stay with me for very long. Its the gaming equivalent of cotton candy; enjoyable to watch it being spun and delicious when you're scarfing it down, but once its over it leaves your system without a trace, just a brief respite from actual cravings with more substance.
