I want to lead off with the fact that the protagonist is an ill-informed stereotype of Dissociative Identity Disorder. (DID) When I first realized this about Blite, I was cautious, especially as we are introduced to ‘nite’ by them being extremely violent. After a near death experience, the two halves of Blite can come to a deeper understanding of one another, and it gave me a bit of hope for the story. However, when the end comes around, Blite is seemingly fully evil for much of it, a ‘plot twist’ that is as unforeshadowed as it is harmful, and even then most of what happens is left unexplained, but not in a mysterious way, more of a confusing and haphazard way. This turn made me feel angry, especially after growing attached to Marmot, who was quite an interesting character in my opinion, only for all depth to be abandoned for the sake of the ending they wanted to tell. The Collectibles system and puzzles were entertaining, but they felt out of place, like they were part of another game. It almost feels as though the entire game didn’t want to commit to any particular direction, and was instead left with a scrambled, incomplete, and offensive experience.
