Crowns is just about everything I've wanted in an OSR game: it feels "complete" in that it covers every major topic (including followers, warbands, strongholds, faction play, etc.), it uses Knave's "your inventory is your class" ethos, and it works in Mausritter's item inventory, usage, and spells (featuring dice casting and recharge rituals). My only complaint is not one specific to Crowns but rather to all Mark of the Odd (Into the Odd/Cairn/Mausritter/etc.) style games, and that is that monsters are somewhat less "compatible" with B/X-derived D&D games. But that's so easy to convert and house rule that it's hardly anything. At the end of the day, Crowns will form the basis for any fantasy TTRPGing I do, and that says a lot as a 35+ year veteran of the hobby.
