astronomicaldumpsters rated The Dark Lab

A downloadable game for Windows and macOS.

Great Visuals  and Sound, The animations and lighting are great in this game, Plus despite only one sound being used for the background it  doesn't stand out as a repeating loop but blends in well with the environment. However the gameplay in this game is rather, too difficult.

I ran out of ammo on Lab 05 and In order to complete this lab you have to kill all four enemies before you can leave this lab and I ran out of ammo to kill the enemies which meant I could not complete the level and thus had to restart from the start, which wasn't that bad to do, but still the player shouldn't have to restart because they didn't have enough ammo to complete the level.

Lab 06 was just frustrating to complete as this level felt like trying to win in a RNG lottery as enemies are unpredictable  as they could choose to chase you or attack once you are within range, this is why the level was so hard for me to complete.

However Lab 07(Boss) is actually a pretty good final lab as the Boss was far more fun to fight against compared to Labs 05 and 06.

To fix the issues I described, either increase the amount of the charge the batteries give or at least make the knife cost no energy, and to give the player a small period of time to react to the incoming enemy at the start of Lab 06, either by distancing the enemy or having gates around the player that open with a timer that starts when the level begins.

Lastly this isn't a major issue like the RNG aspects of Lab 06 and 05, but I feel like it's worth mentioning, Early on when the player is being told the controls, The player has to jump over a crate, this is then followed by a pit, the first thing I thought to do was to jump over the pit.

In Lab 03, the same pit is shown there and so I assumed that I had to jump over the pit to get to the other door, however I soon discovered that the only way out of Lab 03 was to jump down the pit that I assumed was a trap/pit, this wasn't frustrating but it's something that I feel like that should be mentioned, perhaps add a visual cue to the pit like a light shining through or something similar, to tell the player that this is where they are supposed to go.

Overall, this is a pretty good demo that executes it concept well,  and I am only excited to see what the full game is like!
