Finally completed Disc 1 and was very satisfied with my first playthrough of the game. Absolutely looking forward to Disc 2, and in the interim I fully plan to do a 100% run of the game on the hardest difficulty (Spinel).

If you like well-crafted jrpgs, even if the GB aesthetic isn't a big draw for you, I highly recommend this. Great music, great characters, great battle system.
