So. This game was written by young girls in a summer camp. This is wonderful, and I love seeing more girls being welcomed into gaming and game development. However; with the limited perspective that comes from youth, it’s easy to think that these big topics can have easy resolutions. The first two arcs at least had the correct approaches, while the second two may harbor even downright harmful messages. Story aside, the platforming is fun, and many simple gimmicks do not overstay their welcome. However one mechanic that comes into play many times is the pick-a-door. In many levels, you must go through multiple sets of doors, one after another, in an attempt to find the correct path. This didn’t bring much to the table, and often felt like a simple way to extend levels. The metaphors the game has are very surface-level, yet add a lot of character and charm. I don’t hate them, but I can see how some players may feel as though it’s overwhelming.
