The game certainly seems like it's trying to be a platformer . . . but it doesn't control like one, and doesn't have the elements (like loose physics or fun movement) that tend to make platformers fun. The game controls practically like an FPS, which feels very awkward. The decision of having guarding be one of the major actions seems like an odd decision, when something like a dodge would have been much more exciting and dramatic than simply standing and holding right mouse button, waiting for a pitchfork.
The visuals are obviously VERY good, but that's basically the only thing going for the game.
