For this project I want to do a little explanation about why I decided to make my game the way it is. As we know the universe is ever expanding, and we know for sure that one day, all stars will eventually burn out, but the fate of the galaxies are still being debated among astrophysicists, it's far more unpredictable compared to stars which mostly make up a galaxy. So I want the game to be able to played with both a analog and digital medium, considering my currently ability in unity, I will just be creating the rule sets. I do want to create a digital game with rule sets I have made for these assignments in future weeks.
Expansion:
This game will be a trivia based game, ideally a 4 player game. Each player will start off with a very simple galaxy system. As each player gets their turn, they will have a opportunity to answer trivia question about space, they will either gain or lose materials in their galaxy depending on whether they answer the question correctly.
Interception:
If the player in turn fails to answer the question correctly, any of the other players could call to answer the question, if they answer correctly, they will gain material directly from the player in turn. If they answer falsely, they will split the loss in material with the player in turn.
Gain and Losses:
players chooses questions based on difficulty that correspond to the amount of material to be gained or lost, more difficult = more material.
Win Condition:
Each player gets 6 turns, after that the players will compare to see who has the most material. The player with most amount of materials means that they have the most powerful and largest galaxy, thus they win.
I chose trivia instead of a dice randomization for progression of the game, mainly because I feel like it would appeal to a certain audience, especially if the questions were updated and fresh. From the cosmic game we played in class, I feel like one of the differences is that we as the human race now know way more about the universe we live in, and we invented new things to prove the new observation, therefore, I thought it would be cool if we used that knowledge to form a knowledge based game instead of it just being randomized.
