You are my eyes

"You are my eyes" is a game that is much like a really simple treasure hunt, added twist being that you are blindfolded. The unique aspect is that instead of it being a single player game, it's a two player game, player 1 will be inside the room trying to find the key, and player 2 is outside the room trying to help player 1 by guiding him through the process. This works by player 1 being in a video call with player 2, player 1 is blindfolded but he is given a phone which he holds to live stream footage to player 2, player 2 can speak to player 1 about where to point the camera and guide player 1 through the movements of finding the key.

Play Test:

Setup: I did have a chance to play "You are my eyes" with my housemates. First, I had a third player to place the key in a random spot in my room, somewhere that is visible but still somewhat challenging to find, and close the door after. Then I had my roommate be player 1, we used a black mask over his eyes to blindfold him. Finally, I connected our phones on facetime and gave him the phone, I then walked to the kitchen to start the game.

My experience (player 2):

I had a plan with how I wanted to search for the key, I made my roommate hold his phone to his face, showing me a view of the room from where his eyes would be if they weren't blindfolded. I quickly realized a problem with that which is the resolution made it hard to tell where the key is immediately. Like I couldn't just have him stand in the middle of the room and just do a 360 degree turn. The footage isn't detailed enough for me to see the key by doing that. So I made him feel around to move around to get the camera closer to things and I tell him whether the key is there or not. It took us about 4 minutes to find the key which was on the floor behind the bed.

My roommate's experience (player 1)

He thought it would be relatively easy because he has the dimensions of the room pretty much memorized in his head. So he just needed me to tell him where the key is and he will be able to kind of move around the room by feeling the space out with his legs and arms.

Conclusion:

This is a very simple concept that I came up with, the fun in the game is mainly from communicating with your teammate, making a simple task that I could normally do in less than 30 seconds but wouldn't be amusing at all, into  a two people effort. I also found it fun to pretend to get excited and acting like I see the key when I haven't seen the key.
