Weird Locations, part 32!

Last time was the planets, so it's only fitting that next we have the Sun and Moon!

First up, the Moon!

The moon here works basically the same as our moon, with some exception.

Firstly, there is a Rabbit. Per assorted East Asian folklore.

Like with Chinese folklore this Rabbit is an Alchemist and herbalist.

However, in keeping with European folklore, he carries a lantern.

The Rabbit is named for the king of the Moon in True History however.

The Rabbits plant based minions are likewise inspired by that Roman text.

The Palace of Solid Light was inspired by Death's house in Adventure Time.

Death there also has a garden, but it is a rock garden, not a herb guarden.

Finally, there is the Dark Side of the moon.

The pyramid and seven warriors are of course a reference to the Pink Floyd album.

A nice mixture of ideas. Chinese folklore, Roman satire, British rock. It's just fun!

And when the moon sets, the Sun rises!

In keeping with reality, it is hot, bright, and heavy.

The nature of the sun is worded in such a way that a Light Shunned would be completely out of luck here.

I hope one day players abuse this to teleport a Light Shunned here,

because that would be funny.

Additionally, prays to "Sun Gods" get a bonus here.

You may be wondering, how can this location exist and the many Sun Gods?

Well, the same way there are many Sea Gods, and the Sea.

We normally don't go to the Sun like we do the Sea.

That's what makes it a Weird Location.

I also decided the Sun would have a big clock in it.

Because the Sun is so tied to Time in our world, and thus Cosmic Order.

Why not let people look behind the curtain of cosmic order?

And maybe even mess with it! At a price!

That brings us to the unique creature. The Sol Queen!

She is mechanically just the Flame Queen,

with a Ranged option and flight instead of prophecy.

But lore wise she's an ancient being that over sees the path of the sun.

How does that fit into the mythologies of the world? Ask a priest.

She is a little vein, but you'd be too if you lived on the sun and were 10ft tall.

She is also featured in the back story of two other characters.

The Plague Lord, the Ur Light Shunned. King of Darkness.

And Lord Andimion. Like the moon he shared in the Suns light.

While The Plague Lord was cast into the shadows.

She doesn't do grand things like that any more.

She mostly just does her best, and expects endless praise for it.

And why not? I think she deserves it!

I hope you've enjoyed these locations!

Stay tuned for what comes next. 18 left!

Regards,
