Another day, another two Weird Locations!
The final stretch, and the start of the Realms Subterranean.
We begin fittingly with the Subterranean. A whole location themed after big caves.
A common theme in basically all mythologies. Caves were the OG Dungeons really.
Using rules akin to Ruin Generation, you make many passages deep underground.
This location has the next 9 locations built into it,
to add even more variety to the caves you can encounter.
Of course it also has treasures with a cave theme, such as:
Dinosaur bones, gems, ore of great worth, lovecrafting treasures, spider silk,
and fossilized wood! A unique heat resistant type of wood! For fun!
Of course, being a Fantasy game, the deep dark of the world is full of all kinds of nasties.
Giant spiders, cthonic god servants, lovecraftian horrors, sun shrugging giants,
rockmen , spirits of stone and sound, and the long buried dead.
Along with these ideas the most not worthy are the Olms.
Inspired by a creature which appears in Clark Ashton Smith's The Seven Geases,
who were snakes which practiced Science far under the earth.
I changed it to Olms so they could have hands. I tied their lore into a future location,
with them being the original keepers of a lost keep of knowledge, or so they claim.
Besides that I don't there's much else to say. I feel like I covered all a cave needs here.

Next up we have another common theme in fantasy.
Mushrooms! With the Mushroom Forest!
Plants and Animals get their due and then some.
Germs have a whole rule subset for themselves.
Now we have to give the 4th Kingdom of life a fair shake!
So I added the Mushroom Forest. Which I think is a common enough trope.
Mario has it at least, and Alice in Wonderland in a sense.
In keeping with mushrooms relationship with humanity I made this location highly edible,
however, there is always the chance to get poisoned. But maybe you want poison.
I added every vaguely Mushroom themed spirits. Mushrooms, rot, poison, networking.
All core mushroom themes. Along side those I added two new creatures.
Mushroom Fellas. A common trope, from the Toads of Mario, to Dark Souls,
to the Merry Mushmens logo. These guys are the guardians of the fungus.
And the hunters of the Fung-animals. Which are what they sound like.
The other creature added is the Spore Lord.
A creature which leans into the mushrooms mind altering reputation.
It can poison you, give you nightmares, makes you sleep, controls you,
and it has a chance to turn you into a host, to spread the fungal forest further!
However, like real mushrooms, it cannot move. Relying on its spore pods for protection.
Like most of the subterranean locations this one has a chance to be on the surface.
Which is fun. Along with being the Mushroom place, its the Poison Location.
Each exotic damage type has a location, with creatures healed by said damage.
Does it often make sense? No. But its a fantasy game. It's meant to be a little weird!

I hope you've enjoyed these locations!
Stay tuned for the next eight locations!
