Day 15 Slow going.. but now I have a "pop up" menu that appears when the Player is near a planet.. Developing Worlds have a popup that reoccurs when you visit the planet, and the New World pop up appears only once, and will have like "first contact" options.. If I can get the basics of these menus done, then half the game will be complete, and I'll "fill in the details" and create some scenarios after consulting with the Klingon language experts who are helping me out.
day 14, about a week or so left to go for the jam.. I think I can get the basics of everything in, and then later work on translating everything into Klingon.
Day 13 Making a "downloadable" version... because those are quicker to generate for testing... so it has a Bup/Quit button that just re-sets the game in Web-browser mode.
day 12 (10 days to go)
uploaded a test version.. just working on the interface, trying to get the sliders to control the ship.. and working on a pop-up dialogue box that appears and gives options when the Player's ship is near a "new world" (test version, only one world on the game map while I test it)
Day 11ish... about 20 days to go until the end of the jam.. I'm better at "creating worlds" than populating them with stuff... and I've always wanted the game to be "open source".. so I thought I'd go ahead and post the Unity pack (please, don't make fun of my "artist's code") if anyone would like to take a look.. I'm pretty sure I can get the basic universe working, but it might be nice after the jam to get some more people involved.
Day 10 (25 days to go)
added some basic time controls.. Plus/Equals "normalizes" time.. Backspace to Speed up time and Pause key to slow down time, a lot.
still working on enemies.. when I realized the enemies don't really have anything to do.. so working on a system where the Player can visit a planet, designate it as a "nice place to colonize" or invade... then have a colonly ship/invasion force leave from the Homeworld to the NewWorld and then they could be attacked by enemies along the way..
working on ways to get stuff represented on planets.. like science buildings, or guns..
Right now I'm combining everything to just once "screen".. but eventually I would like the Player to be able to choose to visit and explore those worlds.. but for right now everything is just gonna be on one screen.. (testing that "encounter, system explore area on my 2dcombattest page)
