Couple problems I found, one going through tutorial I didn't get enough asteroids to finish tutorial. So, I had to reset server and skip part of tutorial. Second reached the coordinates the space station person said only found a pirate. Also can the friendly AI's be programmed to go to med stations when not needing to perform a repair task.
