Is there a way to import or paste sprite patterns?

I would like to import or paste a set of outline patterns and then create a second pattern to create an OR layer. The pattern background color could either be transparent or a set color.
I would probably need a way to insert patterns also, or I could add blank patterns in between the outlines, as long as it could import the blank patterns.

The editor seems really useful, but it would be nice to have a way to import basic patterns to start.
