I wanted to bring up that, probably due to use of UI buttons, the game pretty much entirely works on mobile. The only issue is that I can't find a way to sell, as that seems bound to a specific button.

(I may be stupid and missing something, but otherwise...)

I think adding a tool to sell could both allow the game loop to function on mobile and make the loop in game more clear, not requiring you to read the description. This doesn't have to be a new tool either, as it could be something like an extra button in the scanner.

hey! first of all thank you so much for the suggestion this is so exciting.

for this update i was experimenting with mobile support (long pressing the fish should've worked for selling on mobile, but that appears to be bugged right now)

an extra button in the scanner  was also something i planned on adding for mobile, but posed some issues. i was doing some mobile testing and some things were a bit annoying and will require some special care. here's a short list of issues i ran into

with the long press approach:

  • difficult to see pricetags under finger
  • easy to accidentally sell fish when tapping around to feed
  • also when feeding, accidentally inspecting the fish while trying to feed them was an issue. constantly slapping the toggle about was a bit annoying but the game did work, which is why i planned to let long presses work

with the button in scanner approach:

  • sell replacement abilities a little weird to trigger (whale and sea sheep)
  • scanner is super finnicky on mobile sometimes (its my fault bc bad implementation, this was my first game after all and i already had to rewrite a lot of stuff this update)

<- here's the sell button hanging out in the node tree, wired up but hidden.

you've also reminded me oh yeah, i should work on that (i did focus on revamping the ui and let some things fall by the wayside)

tldr: mobile support is something im working towards!

genuinely, thanks for writing in! genuinely a treasure everytime i open my email to a new forum topic. i hope i supplied satisfactory insider knowledge : )
