Scaling problem?

On a Macbook (Pro, M2 Max, 32gb, 26.2, 16in scaled to 1728x1117), on launch everything seems to be centered on a much larger screen than I actually have.  This is a full screen screenshot but I can't see that much.  Seems like the scaling or screen dimensions or something are being maybe calculated wrong?  This is a work computer and I use a crapton of external monitors at their various resolutions and their drivers at work so maybe something about screen dimensions is reported inconsistently someplace?  What do I know?  You're the expert!full screen screenshot right after launch

FWIW, changing resolution from 1728x1117 to 2056x1329 (those roll off the tongue...) fixed full screen, and let me set it windowed to go back to my regular resolution.  I'm old and my eyes suck, so I can't use the fancy high res small print you youngsters seem to like so much.

Obviously a small deal for nerds, but having it first launch into something where the options button is off the screen and you can't switch to windowed mode isn't ideal...

That's strange! Mac is my primary development environment and I haven't seen that. I'll see if I can pick those precise resolutions and see how they go on my MacBook. Thanks for all the detail in your post. :-)
