Poor performance with the snow effect

Am I the only one experiencing poor performance with the snow effect? Since its December I guess the game puts on this "winter/christmas" theme that covers the map with snow and it makes my game run really badly.

I used to get an stable 50fps inside the base with a few lights on but now the game runs at 27~28 fps with only the light on the main room turned on. Far away from the base, in the middle of the forest I had 100fps and now it barely reaches 40.

I have an  AMD Radeon RX 6600 for the GPU and an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor, which I know aren't top tier specs however I think the game shouldn't run this poorly. Is there a way to remove the snow effect or whatever its making my game lag  suddenly?  I have tried changing to summer on the settings and it helped a bit, but the game is still pretty laggy.  I have the graphics settings at max and I could try to lower them but I don't like how the game looks without my beloved volumetric lighting  :(

Hope someone has a solution, I love this game :)

EDIT: This is on the newest version 0.9.0b_0004

Its likely the physics objects underwater now colliding with the ice (which isn’t just a layer on the surface, it solidifies the entire body of water), as I also experienced the same lag as well before I decided to try clearing out all the physics objects still left in the river and lake, which immediately brought my fps back up to normal.
