Does this have a "paint" mode?

As in, do you always have to click once per placement, or is it possible to click and drag to place assets along the grid?

Since I will need to place hundreds of floor tiles, having to click for every one would actually be more tedious in the long run than doing the select+duplicate method. Duplicating and moving a 10x10 grid of tiles is less work than manually placing 100 new tiles, after all. If I could paint them on though, then the asset placer would still be preferable.

Hey!
There is a paint mode for this purpose, you just have to enable Snapping (set the step equal to your tile size), and then click and drag to place multiple tiles. You can see it in action here:

Sweet! I'll probably get this plugin, then! :)
