Hey everyone!
I'm an indie game dev with a background of over 10 years in C++ programming and around 7 years working with Unreal Engine.
In the past, I kept trying to take on massive projects, which repeatedly led to burnout. I'd always run out of steam, content, or the know-how to see them through. Now I have a much better understanding of my limits, so I've decided to create a project that's simple in scope but still really engaging and fun to play!"

About the game:

Field of Enemies is a casual top-down action roguelike where you face endless hordes of enemies, from slow zombies to advanced robots. Your goal is simple: survive as long as you can, surrounded by a literal hellscape of monsters, and claim your spot on the leaderboard!

Now, onto the gameplay mechanics!
(if the GIFs aren't working for you, I've also uploaded higher-quality versions via Google Drive links)
The Main Menu: (HQGif)
First up is the main menu! I bet you're sick of standard menus, so I've built an interactive 3D one instead.
Ramping Challenge (HQGif):
The gameplay is fast-paced and intense. Check out the difference between the beginning of a run and just 5-7 minutes later. As time goes on, enemies get both tougher and start showing up in greater numbers!
Choosing Abilities (HQGif):
I've implemented a streamlined ability pick-up system. Choose with a mouse click or by using one of your three bound keys. We had pauses before, but they became a major annoyance in co-op testing—anyone leveling up would halt the game for everyone. This new UI eliminates the need for pauses entirely.
Co-op Mode (HQGif):
Since we're on the topic of co-op, yes, I've implemented it! The game supports up to 4 players. The more players, the more enemies. I also considered the situation where one player has been in the session for a while, and you're just joining. In that case, the enemies would be way too strong for you. So, I made it so that separate mobs spawn for each player, which they have to handle on their own (or die trying :D).
Helping Other Players (HQGif):
You can also revive other players in co-op – which will prolong your collective suffering in the game!
In-Game Events (HQGif_0, HQGif_1):
Sometimes the game lacked constant action, so I added some elements to keep the player constantly entertained. For example, cars that drive along the road and run over both players and enemies, meteorites, tornadoes... all of this deals damage and forces the player to keep moving!
Spectator Mode (HQGif):
While you're lying there, waiting for your teammate to revive you, you can spectate their actions.
Upgrades (HQGif):
Boost your character's stats in the main menu! Use Synthesis, a resource you gather during your runs.
Leaderboards (HQGif):
Set personal and world records across 4 different leaderboards!
Skins (HQGif):
Make your mark with unique skins! Each has a dedicated color that tints most of your abilities, guaranteeing you'll stand out from other players.
So, we've covered the core mechanics! For now, only an endless survival mode is available, but I'll be adding more very soon.

I already have a Steam page, but I'm also planning to release the game on itch.io soon.
To make this happen, I'll be using the cross-platform Epic Online Services. This will allow you to play together whether you're on Itch, Epic Games, Steam, or even a mobile device!

To show you what I can do, I recently developed a game in just 7 days for the Epic Games MegaJam. While it has a different visual style, the core gameplay is very similar. Give the free version a try to see that my games are made with passion!

As you can tell, I'm a solo developer, and getting your game noticed is tough! That's why your feedback is so valuable. Please share your ideas and suggestions below – I'll definitely consider adding them!
