I started creating a character last night and got stuck at the bit about Assets. Do I roll dice and make a note of the numbers? Am I looking up a table? I'm lost.

Choose a landmark. From where?

Roll for Weather? Where???

Choose an Asset. I can't. I'm stumped! Argh!

I think it would be much better to group things into pages and sections. Then you could say 'roll for weather (p.04 s.02)' or something. I'm currently having to jump back and forth through the PDF and getting put off playing because I can't find things.

I love the idea. It reminds me of Animal Crossing (which I love).

A separate PDF with a playthrough of setting up a character and at least one/two turns would be really helpful.

Thanks so much for your super helpful feedback on Tinyoji! We were really sorry to hear you got stuck trying to create a character—that’s definitely not the cozy experience we were going for.

You were spot on; the book needed better signposting. While we can’t completely rearrange the layout right now, your email was basically our to-do list for an immediate fix. Thanks to you, we’ve just rolled out version 1.2! Here’s what we changed to make navigating easier:

We added page numbers throughout the book, just like you suggested. There’s a new Table of Contents and a quick-reference Glossary. The section on creating Assets is now much clearer (no more guessing!). You can grab the updated PDF from your original download link.

We really hope this helps you dive in and enjoy the game.

Thanks! The page numbers do help things in the walkthrough.

A couple of points though:

  • I fell like the manual tells me to do things before it explains what that thing is.
    • eg: assign 5 assets - what are assets? Am I just picking random things? I can assign a level 4 rocket launcher?
      • for assets I think a table to choose from. Either roll on it for random things, or a table to let people pick from.
    • eg: begin with 0 keepsakes - what are they? What do they do?
    • eg: landmarks begin either locked or unlocked - what are they? What do they do?
      • gameplay step 1 is choose your landmark. I still don't know what they are yet!
      • Landmarks end up being mentioned about 3 pages later.
    • gameplay #2 ; find your scenario p24-31.
      • page number is good, but I've no idea what season I'm on yet.
    • gameplay #1 more about the mystical assets
      • gameplay #1 more about the mystical assets
    • gameplay #2 roll your effort dice - my WHAT? Never heard of them before

In my opinion, the book should explain the various things (step by step of how to get the thing - whether its a table or a dice roll) THEN go through a gameplay. By that time I should hopefully know what those things are.

I've never gotten past page 10. As I've given up trying to work out what things are   :(

But definitely a step-by-step playthrough and/or video would help a lot.

Thanks for the quick updates!
