Seeking help and suggestions to create a 2D story-based business building game

Hi all,

I'm looking for various artists, developers, writers, producers to help me design and develop a 2D pixel style game. The premise/idea I've had for the game is as follows:

  • 2D, oblique/angled top-down pixel style
  • Premise is rebuilding a rundown gym in a small town while connecting, hiring, and helping the townspeople
  • Combination of business building, simulation, and story-based
  • Games Inspired by: Stardew Valley, Discounty, some Terraria, etc.
  • Cozy, lo-fi, cinematic, growth
  • You can increase lots of different attributes (personal, social, financial, etc.) by completing quests

Key Mechanics could include:

  • talking with townspeople and growing relationships with them
  • exploring new areas
  • completing exercises (in the form of minigames)
  • growing foods and plants for supplements and medicines
  • possible combat route (sword training or a fantasy exploration aspect)
  • customization of your business, character, etc.

If you wanted a SUPER basic version of the game, it's Stardew Valley except you build a gym and business, but it's WAY more than that. There's cinematic and meaningful cutscenes, story, and gameplay.

Right now, I would love help simply developing the games ideas, especially with:

  1. Gameplay: what would make running and growing a gym fun in a pixel world?
  2. Character and Story development: how to make townspeople alive and impactful, their story is just as important as the players-it drives the game.
  3. Mechanics: any examples of games that are similar in concepts?
  4. Pixel-art inspiration: references for top down, 2D aesthetic that fits a cozy, cinematic community vibe

If you're interested in collaborating, offering suggestions, or sharing resources-I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks!
