[Level Design] Small Retro FPS team looking for level designer

We are a two man team (programmer and artist) developing a retro FPS in a new engine made from scratch by me in C++. The game is fairly complete technology-wise, renderer, player weapon animations, world object AI and animations, doors/switches/push-walls, pickups, custom map format, built-in level editor, console, menus, user configurable controls, controller support, etc.

Some test footage showing the variable floor/ceiling height feature:

Because we are a very small team we would love to find a collaborator. Someone who is passionate about designing fun maps, and who wants to help steer the game from the perspective of level design where we do so from programming and art perspectives. This game will be released commercially for profit, and you will receive a percent share of the revenue-- shares aren't determined yet, we will discuss together as a group.

It's not necessary for you to have experience with any particular level editing software because the level editor for this game is also new/made from scratch. Maps are tile-based and the editor is quite simple, you just place down tiles and object markers in 2d and you can rapidly test by switching between level editor and player mode in the same program with a single keypress. The level editor is another thing that you can give me feedback on to make your job easier.

This is the last game that our team released (made in Unity, not in a custom engine): https://store.steampowered.com/app/3299550/Mutant_Legion/

Please let me know if you have any questions, and if this sounds like you I really look forward to hearing from you!

Hi! I liked your idea my discord: cyperfeng

Please describe how your team collaborates; and if you prefer (or at least, tolerate) contact through some means other than that.

Personally, my chance of joining teams who require Discord, Slack, or worse is relatively low; however, if you don’t even specify this in your call for collaborators…

Hello! 👋

I'm Amelia, a digital artist based in New Zealand. I mainly focus on anime style / character design / portraits / fantasy art just write your style, but I love experimenting with different styles too.

I've recently opened commissions and would love to connect with people who enjoy art or are looking for custom pieces. Whether it’s for a personal project, a character, or just something fun, I’d be happy to collaborate. 🖌️

Thanks for your interest everyone! Sorry that I didn't reply sooner, I must have missed the notification from Itch about this thread. We did end up finding level designers for our project through an ad on another site, so I would close the thread if I knew how :)
