Hi, I've been messing around with the beta for a bit, here's what comes to mind.

Even though I've been eagerly awaiting Zorana (as I played a bunch of LLTQ and Black Closet, and mostly enjoyed both), I now find myself making up reasons NOT to play this game. Basically, I'm up to the part where I have to travel around and try to find electors and a new cabinet, but I'm too stressed out to play very far in, because I am completely paralyzed when it comes to making any decisions. Whenever I try to meet with someone I fail just about every check, but I'm rushing through meeting everyone because I have no idea how much time I have, and I want the most information possible to try and attempt to make a good decision. Like, my two friends visited the planet I was at, but they already left before I had a chance to talk to them. Are they gone forever? I have no idea. So right now, the game is not fun. Sorry.

I know it's not really in the spirit of the game, but perhaps wait a bit longer before you take the training wheels off? Or give a rough indication how much time I have to actually do things. In LLTQ, I didn't mind fail states because I was at least grounded in the game and its rules, and it seemed like I always had a fighting chance. In Zorana, on the other hand, I'm completely lost. Too afraid to explore, too afraid to make arbitrary decisions, and not sure how to make educated ones.

Also, this is more a personal gripe, but I don't care to be bogged down in sci-fi jargon before I even understand how to play the game. Fun should come first, lore second. It's a bit of a slippery slope, but this game reads a lot more like fanfiction than a living, breathing, universe. Also, why am I choosing whether or not I'm in love with one or both of my friends before I even know who they are? I want to make decisions based on what is happening in the game, not just making things up because I want a girlfriend or boyfriend.

Also, where is the flavor text for improving my skills? Studying feels a bit empty without it.

Sorry if this seems harsh. Feel free to ignore all of this if you want.

If you're overwhelmed by choice paralysis you might find it entertaining to turn on Random Options in the menu, which will provide a random choice button at every menu prompt - you're never required to use it, you can still pick manually at any point, but you have the option of "I don't know, just pick something".

Letting things just happen and seeing how events unfold can let you ease into taking control of the narrative when you have more idea of where you want to go.

Thanks for the response.

Not to be argumentative, but random choices seems more like a party game or a fun new game+ thing to do; also, when you consider that making choices is 99% of this game, leaving it all to chance basically removes "the game" from the game. I'm not a twitch streamer looking to monetize a thing you made so my chat can have fun, I'm the one who was hoping to have "the fun."

Again, you don't have to make the game start easier if you don't want to, obviously, but right now that is what I'd want. I'm not sure if I can really play this game as-is. IDK, maybe this game is just not for me.

Does it help with the feeling rushed feeling if I spoil a little bit and say that the election first happens on turn 35? Maybe knowing when it happens will help with the planning your skills out, I felt like it was much easier the second time I played through because I knew how much time I had. If saying that doesn't help, then I apologize for spoiling it!

Thanks!

"give a rough indication how much time I have to actually do things": I second this suggestion.

Some more hints about the election cycle, such as the length of the official mourning period, would be helpful to the player without breaking the 'suspense'

I'm sorry to hear that you are stressed but much like LLTQ a lot of this game is trying stuff and failing but seeing what skills would pass the checks and figuring out how to get them the next time.

I think one thing LLTQ did a little better is telling you the week before when something was going to happen a little so you could prepare a bit more.

You will have to brute force some of the early game but as a hint you can avoid most dangerous encounters via having high social stats much like you could in LLTQ. Which should help you to feel a little less stressed about what to learn. High Rhetoric, Etiquette, Empathy and Allure will get you most of what you need without too much effort.

Have a notebook handy as you play jot down the Turn number of certain encounters and what checks you need to pass then on subsequent playthroughs see if you can get there in time.
