Hello, I'd like to apologize for my slight overreaction earlier.

Sorry, I'd just like to ask a few questions if that's okay. I'm really not that good at this kind of thing and there's no way to dodge it so I'll just ask directly;

-Why have you chosen a name of Eastern European origin for your main character? You could have gone with something like "Arnold" or even something more vague like "Mystic" or similar. The characters could all have names non-existent names that don't reference ethnolinguistic groups, at all. I don't mean to pry, I'm just curious...

-The game, even when downloading free versions gives me constant crashes. Sometimes even after I finish a big fight or read a huge chunk of lore it just breaks, out of nowhere. I have to save-scum after nearly every fight and hope it doesn't crash after every single major instance boss. I don't usually comment on this kind of thing, because I don't know anything about programming and how much of grueling hard work goes into game development, but the crashes are so frequent that it makes it that much harder to play...

-While the game does have themes of "slavery" in it, it at least doesn't directly fetishize this, however I'm a little concerned. It's pretty heavily tackled in the bear's route/romance option. Yes, I know it isn't anything that's actually psychologically dangerous or harmful, but still... Why is it in the game? The worldbuilding was good and I liked it just fine until this started.

-Considering that this game isn't so heavily focused on purely sexual content, with lots of genuine lore, regarding the sexual aspect... Will people actually get to choose what "role" our given main character will be doing in some of these... scenes? Or perhaps every character will feature both types of, well....... sexual intercourse? I know most entertainment is supposed to be "spoiler free" but most people genunienly wanna know the actual context and content within these types of things before they "engage".

-The project seems to feature a lot, and I mean, a lot of dialogue/context exposition for, well, worldbulding and setting that's not quite worked on as much. I don't mind the mutant monsters popping around or the kinda unexplained magic system, it's just we're all kinda collectively curious where the game is headed? Like, once you reach maximum "love points" on those binary bars, will you get "pics" of certain characters doing certain things, and that's it? Do you plan on maybe expanding the game after that in more psychological depth and maybe even bring something even more personal/meaningful? Will you turn those side "jobs" into maybe mini-games of some sort? Will the game expand upon new characters with some DLC or something, or are the characters concluded?

-What about characters like the rabbit or lion that haven't really been expanded upon all that much yet? At first I thought you can simply choose whichever character you'd like to romance, but the game sadly seems to force a kind of, "linear" progression path where in order to date 1 guy, you have to date all the guys. So choosing "that special one" looses quite a bit of meaning, in this kinda progression... The natural lore of the game also kinda nudges you to stick with some characters more over the others (?). I haven't actually played that far so I can't say for sure here.

-In all honestly I'm not a big fan of chubby or overly buff men, but this game really is different. It does have a "barazoku" resembling style, but characters like Aquilio, Lambert, Volga and even the 2 cats don't seem "overbuff" like in most VNs. They're still too ripped for my taste but, eh. I really don't like "hyper-hourglass" shaped men with a petite body and ridiculously sized thighs, on the opposite end of the spectrum either. So this really is a "happy medium" for the most part. (And yes, sometimes I like straight stuff 馃檭) What I don't understand though is the somewhat frequent visual inconsistency in the game. Sure, game development takes time and everything that is a WIP is expected to change. However, once it is officially released, will it have a completely new cohesive art style from scratch, or will it reuse some old stuff?

Sorry, if this is a bit much... I just really wanna know these things so I can decide for myself if I should purchase it or not. I do understand this adult gaming genre thing is extremely niche, and I am 100% precent on board with you, and with this whole thing happening to adult content creators. I'm not able to do it now, but I do want to support you and possibly others in anyway I can, even though my current financial status isn't great. The thing these credit card companies are doing is actual, genuine job discrimination and flat-out demagoguery. Like, why do these people care what we spend our own money on, as long as its not something legit dangerous? Games that feature heavy gore and flat out decapitating people are A-OK, but consensual "furry ass" is not? I've seen all kinds of stuff on the web over the years, so why are they banning ALL adult games just because of few bad seeds? Just handpick the titles deemed problematic and ban that. It's so unfair and it must be actually really hard to sustain, much less thrive with stuff like this, influencing someone's everyday job possibly even life income...

Anyway, I wish you the best luck on your game. Thanks for answering if you do! 馃槉

If it helps, here's some feedback from someone whose previously played the game:

Every character has a major sex scene after they lose in a coliseum battle, which consists of them being the centerpiece of a orgy.   There is typically some level of bondage/fetish play involved with all of these.   The Lion/rabbit haven't been in a coliseum battle yet, but will likely turn out the same.  There are also minor sex scenes after certain events and missions.

The dating system isn't complete, but presumably allows you to romance specific character(s) for additional sex scenes, though that is TBD.

Most characters are muscular, but not exaggerated.  Some characters are chubby, but not to an overly extreme level.

The story is linear and the characters are more or less set.  This is not an rpg, where you get to choose how the characters act to a significant degree.

I doubt there was much thought put in character names beyond them sounding exotic and/or having a passing connection to some element/personality trait of a specific character.   The inclusion of slavery was probably added as it was ubiquitous in the ancient world, so would make sense for it to be there, and provides quick, readily understood  character motivation(s).   The story is very obviously against slavery and doesn't sexualize/fetishize it.

If there's any major reason to not purchase this game, it would be that the game has been in development for many years and takes an extremely long amount of time to make any progress in the main story.  For what's already there, it's probably worth the price, but I would not expect it to be fully completed.

Hey, thank you so much for the reply, honestly!

Wonder why the devs didn't respond...

I didn't even realize how long the text was, I tend to overdo it with the questions somtimes.

I'm kinda curious about that "TBD" part. I mean,  it's fine for stuff to be in the making for a certain while, but 10+ years for just sheer lore is honestly a bit much... I mean, IDK, I honestly really hate rushing people and telling them how to do their own thing, but if a person is taking money for years on end out of an unfinished product, it does feel a bit... off.  Again, I really don't wanna offend people here, but there is a lot of "milking" and diffrent types of finanical abuse in crowdfunding. It's compltley understandable things take time, but the line often gets hazy as to tell wether a person is truly having a difficulty with a project or intentionally prolonging it.

Anyways, I feel like we should be at least be told what the game contains after it is released. I've tried visual novels like "Mr Versatile" and "Dear Monster", and while they're not really for me, (as if something even is at this point) I do appreciate them and the effort gone into making them. "Dear Monster" is honestly one of the few pieces of homoerotic VN content that I can honestly say is not that bad.  Still not something I can really immerse myself into. VNs in general just aren't for me, but this seems to have an actual mechanic and gameplay.

A part of me really does kinda hope the game gets actually finished and maybe a bit polished. Would be nice to do a flip with litterally all the characters. Maybe I'm just too needy? I'm not expecting that much from that "interpersonal aspect" of writing, even most staright games I've come across struggle with this.

The charcters are actually surprisingly fleshed out, and besides the MC they're not that "elemental" in that sterotypical sense. The magic power system isn't that prominent in the game,  but it seems to focus on weirdly speific things. It does need work in cohesion though.

I'm confused what you're getting at with Volga's name. With the exception of Tharsix, all of the companion names are also actual real world names and therefore all have origins in real world languages. Singling out Volga's name is a bit odd.

I'm getting at, it's from Eastern European origin.

I'm not that good at "being around the bush" so just like you, I'll try and be direct too - it's a name name from Balto-Slavic (or "Slavonic"?) origin. As far as I can make out, this kind of thing is very rare, even in VNs. Yes, other names like "Cyrus",  "Cronus", "Linus" even a hyperspecific "Ukrit" obviosuly have their own ethnolingustic meaning and place of origin. However names like "Dugan" or "Gimdin", are a lot more obscured. You an look it up and see that "Gimdin" doesn't exactly exist as a name, but "Gindin" does, and it's a name from Semetic origin. Words have meaning, and meaning has power. Meaning can also be intentionally misinterpreted and used with hostile context in mind. Looking at you, YouTube.

Names aren't the problem though, the context they can be used in, can be. That's why I'm asking.  I'm not mad about real cultural names being used in media, I'm worried about how said media could interpert these names and their context for something potentally harmful, although knowing what the Internet has become it's understandable why nobody even cares anymore.

Still, it can be taken out of context for various reasons to push something on to people. For example If I drew a comic with a couple of superfical "femboy" (I hate this term) furries and named them: "Saxon", "Frank", "Norman" and "Dutch", while making huge unrealistic "overbuffed" men twice thier size who may contain say Semetic, (ethno-lingustic example) common Japanese (national example) or genral African names (continental example). Heck... any names from anywhere, that don't cotain the same theme or element (in this case thier Germanic naming origin) I'm sure some people would raise an eyebrow.

Again, I don't have much of a problem with any single "real" name being used, I'm more concered about them being used with a "murky" context. "Lambert" for example is my favourite character, whose name is non-other than Germanic in origin. And, it's not the name that makes it interesting, it's the character. I'd pay good money to see these two "flip" in slang terms,  despite strong established common sterotype in "size diffrence". However knowing the origins of the name, heavy historical context, phychological depth and even existing biological factors gives new, sometimes, even perhaps "touchy"/controversial layers of understanding something.

What I'm asking is why include a name from that specific origin, exactly? They could have named him "Adam" or something, most people wouldn't give a damn. Adam still has real lingustic origins though. Why not just make up names, or use generic Latin/Celtic/Whatever words instead of established names? Why would a fox be Germanic? Why would a rabbit be Hellenic? Why whould a bird be Siamese? Why would a shark be Marquesic? Most furries delve into this kinda thing to get away from real life drama, and problems, not embrace or prolong them. That's why I feel like non-existent names are the better option.

Sorry, I tend to overdo it with the descriptions. Btw, what does your username mean? Is it some sort of anagram?

(2 edits) (+2)(-1)

If there are any problems with the name Volga specifically or Eastern European names in general, I'm 100% certain the rest of us aren't aware of it. What is the problem?

My usual *user*name means absolutely nothing. It's the name of a D&D character I made. But my usual *user*name isn't my itch.io name, so I'm not sure what you're getting at. You'd be seeing my *actual name*. So if you're asking about my username, that means either you know exactly who I am, or you're spamming about real world names while somehow having zero knowledge that my name is, in fact, an actual real world name.

Are you unable to read? I described the problem above. It's potential misuse and links to politics and/or real word drama I'm worried about. Considering this is Eastern Europe we are talking about people could, misconstrued, mocked or diminshed very easily. That's the problem.

Woah, there slugger. I'm pretty sure I never asked for your name and I didn't even think about asking for any kind of sensitive/personal information about you? Where are you even getting this all from? And why are you so defended about this? It was only my intention to know the meaing of the username. I'm sorry I asked???

If anyone should be complaning about privacy invasion it's me. I've had it all happen, and possibly even from the highest levels. I've connected creepy "obscure" refrences to me, from the higest figures of authority in the word, but I think it's probably my mental issues acting up? However I can indeed confirm I've seen creepy sort of "indirect" ways of communication directed at me. I've casually talked with radio stations simply through typing "queries" in my own search box,  I've had people on multiple websites send kinda "cryptic" or "descreet" messages towards me, or even use my search results/browsing as a well of inspo. Heck, I've even had TV creepily refrecing some of the stuff I've been through, but I think most of it is my own "interpreation" acting up. Hence, my own username. People keep picking me in something I don't wanna be a part of.

(For example, I've known my IP has been "leaked" for years. I've even used the same shitty router for over a decade, installing pirated stuff from everywhere  - no VPN, Proxy or Antivirus. Esentally though I've never cared about this, at least until 2020. It's the year things really started to take a turn for worst. Some time after I engaged with indirect methods of communication with some people, that they started. I shouldn't have done this. Never do this to yourself. I didn't have money for VPNs and jazz, so I simply continued to browse, not really thinking or caring that anyone would give a damn. Turns out my data has been pretty darn "compromised" and my mental state pretty fucking dire if pirate brothers were trying to validate me. I didn't desrve that. They were they real gigachads. Esentially my "hypervigalence" mode triggered after a really awful accident happend in my country, while I was casually communicating  with people through my own sheer tunnel of compromised data, that probably remains compromised to this day.

It's highly possible that 15 years worth of unprotected data and frequet piracy with 0 regard to my own "digital" safety may have caused some occasional intrusion, and I was fine with that at first. However there were other people I didn't want/like/trust snooping around and occasional intrusions turned to progressive stalking. I wanted to distance myself from this, but that's a lot harder when you don't have money.)

Hell, I've made it incredibly easy even for doxxing to be possible. I think I'm so far gone that people even put songs on the radio in foreign contries for me, even though I don't deserve it 馃挃

Could be my mental stuff acting up though. I've had one of my PCs destroyed by what seems like a DoS attack. It's possible I'm  hooked on IMSI catchers as well.  I'm way passed the point of giving a damn.

People tried to put me in some creepy "social-engineering" situations, too. It gets weirder. I've actually learned more about the world that I could possibly ever know by having my privacy... invaded? And learned more about true human nature that I could ever hope to achieve. There is that feeling of "I'll never fully know what's happening behind my back" sure, but it's that very "privacy invasion" thing that prooves my innocence. Strange. I've never even touched an Internet "packet" in my life.

So, as strange as it may seem even with "stalkers" or "privacy invaders" there is actual people out there that will try and help you, with the odds of perhaps "indirectly" bettering your mental state. Even though deep down, we all know that's not the right approach. It's not as  clear cut as you make it sound. But you are right to an extent, a lot of stalkers are just creeps with the intent of spreading microagressions™, false info or just looking for ways to ruin your day :/

Not the kind of person that likes to snoop really, on anyone, so no, I don't know who you are. I've held my 15 years worth of grit on keeping my nose clean.  Soon I'll disable my Internet accsess so I don't ruin my life completley.

(+2)(-1)

Okay you're just a troll.

(+1)(-1)

Lmfao, they blocked me? This is why you should never bother to describe a delicate mental state to people. How did you even come to that conclusion?

You know what, it doesn't matter.  I don't care, you don't either. Goodbye!
