Hey cult of voxel worshippers,
After wrestling with Unity’s ECS crashes and bug-ridden chaos for too long, it’s time for a clean break. Zoxel served well, but its engine shackles are snapping. The dream of smooth, stable procedural worlds demands more—so I’m diving headfirst into Zox, a brand new game built from the ground up in plain C, no Unity baggage attached.
Why the switch?
Because Unity’s ECS kept crashing like a drunk sorcerer in a dungeon crawl, and I refuse to let unstable middleware dictate my creative flow. Zox is raw, lean, and ruthless—engineered for performance, stability, and true control over every byte and voxel.
Zox will carry forward the spirit of Zoxel but with sharper teeth, faster guts, and zero compromise. Expect:
-
Procedural worlds with serious muscle
-
Hardcore gameplay unchained from bloated engines
-
Smooth performance, even when simulating thousands of voxel entities
-
The freedom to innovate without Unity’s invisible chains
If you loved Zoxel, strap in — Zox is coming to claim its throne.

No regrets, just code and chaos.
