In order to use Sale Snail, you'll need to provide a special Steam API Developer Key,

NOTE: This is separate from any other API keys you already use for Steam.

Generating your key:

1. Go to your Manage Groups page in Steamworks
2. On the right panel, click "Create Financial API Group" and enter a name for it, you could call it "Sale Snail".
3. Your API key will be visible on the right.

Safeguarding your key: (optional, but highly recommended)

1. On the right panel again, click "Manage WebAPI key"
2. In a new tab, go to any 'Whats my IP' website and copy your ipv4 address.
3. Paste it into the box at the bottom of the page in Steamworks tab, then press "Add IP to pending list" then "Save changes".

This means that only your current IP address can use this key (it protects your earnings from snoopers). If your IP address changes or you want to add more devices in different locations, you'll need to repeat this process for each IP.  Don't forget to revoke access for unused IPs!

Adding your key to Sale Snail:

1. Copy your webAPI code from the right sidebar in Steamworks, and paste it into Sale Snail (Click the Sale Snail window, then just press CTRL V). 

If this is your first time using Sale Snail, it will say "Paste your API key into this window to start fetching" onscreen. After pasting, it will ask for confirmation that you want to paste it, so just click "Yes". 

You can paste a new API key at any time, this prompt is to prevent accidental pastes.
